The festive lights in Liskeard will shine even brighter this year thanks to the ‘Lights Up’ committee winning £1,000 at an annual awards competition, and being awarded a grant of £3,500 from the town council.

The committee organises Liskeard’s Christmas lights and the big ‘Lights Up’ event which includes the popular lantern parade.

Liskeard was one of 13 towns countrywide to be invited to make a presentation to the judges at the recent Revive and Thrive Annual Conference and Exhibition in Colchester.

Their success saw them receiving a cheque for £1,000 to be spent on Christmas lights.

John Lennon, from Liskeard Lights Up, said: ‘This is a major boost for Liskeard and allows the town to continue to invest in its Christmas lighting, which has steadily improved over the past few years.’

The cash was given by Blachere Illumination UK Ltd, with Liskeard among 11 towns to receive £1,000 each.
