MUSIC, art, history and good food will be at the fore of a month-long festival being held at Liskeard Methodist Church.
augustfest@wesley will run for the entire month of August at the place of worship on Barn Street.
For many years, the town centre church has hosted a special exhibition in the summer, but this year it was decided to be even more adventurous and the festival is the result.
Liskeard and Looe Methodist Circuit Superintendent minister, the Rev Mark Pengelly, said: ‘The success of the Christmas Tree Festival has partly inspired us to ask for the involvement from the wider community and we are delighted with the response.
‘Hence the festival is a combined effort of many groups and supporters from our wonderfully vibrant community.
’So from the youngest to the oldest, the sportiest to the craftiest, we give a warm welcome to all that Liskeard and district area can offer.’
Activities taking place at the church and its hall include activity days, singing, music, craft, multi-media art, heritage and history, talks, food, faith, and knitting and nattering.
Businesses in the town have supported the festival through advertising and the donation of goods for an auction of promises.
The auction is set to be held in the hall on Wednesday, August 9 (7pm for 7.30pm), with proceeds to Children’s Hospice South West.
