With the pitch resembling a bog match conditions were heavy. After last week's victory Liskeard/Looe U-10s were full of confidence and raring to go. Unfortunately they were brought down to earth with a bump when St Austell broke through a rather shaky defence and scored two quick tries. Jake Francis led Liskeard's reply and cleverly side-stepped the tackles to score the first of yet another three tries. Daniel Watt put in some excellent tackles that prevented St Austell from scoring further this half and was rewarded with a very good try. At half time the scores being even it was necessary for the coach to try and instil the fighting spirit.

The pep talk worked and Jan Speiring, Chris Bowden and Harry Hillman won some good ball from the scrum and with the return from injury of Adam Whittington who received the ball ran for the try line and scored an excellent try and soon followed it with another. Josh Bryant played another inspired game putting in excellent tackles and running well with the ball. John Burns found the conditions more difficult this week but obtained a knock from unfair tackling. Stuart Gundry kept his line well and the Liskeard defence prevented St Austell on many occasions from scoring sometimes within inches from the try line.

Liskeard did not prevent another two tries scored by St Austell but Jake Francis showing excellent support play scored his second and third try to give the final score St Austell 20, Liskeard/Looe 30. Liam Moran was awarded the 'Man of the Match' for his tireless effort in defence, tackling well and ferreting for any loose ball, making breaks and supporting other players.

Both victories have given the team a boost in confidence and a belief in themselves the coach can see his efforts being rewarded and the team are beginning to play rugby. Well-done boys. Next week we have a return match and face Ivybridge at home please meet at 10.15am.
