The game started with Liskeard/Looe under pressure but they defended well until 10 minutes into the half when Penzance were awarded a try tight in the corner. Liskeard were rucking and mauling well but left the away team come out with the ball at times, Penzance making good use of the ball and scoring their second try.
Liskeard made a much better attack from the kick off taking the ball forward and recycling it well. Penzance were rattled at this point and a mis-kick by them saw the ball bounce along their try line and Patrick Devany run in to score what should have been a try but the referee disallowed it.
The second half started with a more composed Liskeard team taking the game to Penzance but on the counter attack scored their third try. Liskeard came back strongly with the pack of Andrew Wood, Jonathan Dymond, Chris Briant, Michael Rawlings and Joe Blank winning the ball against the head resulting in scrum half, Josh Goodman seeing the gap and scoring in the corner. The try was converted by Briant. The backs, Kerry Thomas, Devany, Sam Westbrook, Duncan Bruce, Maxwell Turner, full back Jamie Julian and new boy Chris played their positions well, tackling strongly with some good attacking play.
Next week we are playing Launceston away, meeting Lux Park at 9.30am.
