Liskeard/Looe U-12s played two matched at home against Ivybridge last Sunday. Once again it was good to see a full team for the home side. In the first game the opposition played their strongest team and although the Liskeard boys worked hard they left some gaps which Ivybridge punished. Mike Rawlings charged through on several occasions with the help of Andrew Wood and the team held a very well drilled Ivybridge team to 33-0. Sam Westbrook also gave good support and Jamie Julian did well as full back.

In the second game Ivybridge put on some fresh players, but following a talk by their coach the home team played a much tighter game and were on the ball much quicker. The first try of the season came after five minutes from man of the match Christ Briant and the whole team lifted their game from that moment. The next superbly worked try came from a good scrum by the forwards, Jonathan Dymond, Wood, Briant, Jo Blank and Rawlings, giving Josh Goodman the opening to dive for the corner. This try was converted by Briant. The Liskeard boys confidence was growing and another try for Goodman once again showed their commitment. On the stroke of half time the Ivybridge team pulled a try and conversion back.

The beginning of the second half saw Duncan Bruce and Douglas Reid doing some great passes to the backs and their tackling skills were also on show. The team's concentration did wonder for a short time and they allowed the away team to score another try and conversion before the ball was once again in the Ivybridge half and Patrick Devany and Dymond were determined that the ball was going in for a try. Brad Birchell converted. Max Turner held his position out on the wing and made some excellent tackles to leave the final score at 24-14.

Next week the team will be away to Truro. Meeting in Lux Park at 9.30 am.
