Saltash took the opportunity to run the rule over fringe players, and give those returning from lay off a run out by rotating a squad of 20. Conditions were far from ideal but there was still some good rugby, catching and running on offer from both sides in a good, clean, even contest.

Saltash had the better of the first half and went ahead on the half hour with Rob Bewes finally diving over with John Nicholls converting following a period of constant forward pressure. Winger Phil Yeo responded for Launceston with a corner try on the stroke of half time.

Despite having the slope in their favour after the break, Saltash were unable to turn it to their advantage. Ben Jones was stopped short of the line. A couple of tap and go penalties from close in failed, and full back Steve Japes had the final shout for Launceston with an overlap try for Justin Uglow to convert.
