AT a meeting of Liskeard Town Council's amenities committee on Tuesday evening, the members' attention was drawn yet again to the problem of vandalism.

In this instance, the damage was especially to play equipment in Thorn Park. In the two months since the park was expensively refurbished, more than £700 of damage has been done, much of it in the past two to three weeks.

There is also a recurrence of broken glass which is extremely dangerous. As the park is for the use of young children and their parents, the glass concerned has absolutely no business to be there.

If these actions are done deliberately they are wicked. We urgently ask anyone who has any information on the culprits to get in touch with the council.

And, if this damage is the result of thoughtlessness, please try to instil in those responsible the serious consequences of their actions. Remember also that the cost of putting right this damage falls on the council tax payers.

We are sure it is only a small minority of idiots or thugs responsible. But these are the people who are fouling things up for everyone.

Please play your part in bringing this mindless, dangerous and expensive damage to a stop.
