Penzance 1
With three games remaining, including a daunting trip to champions St Blazey, Millbrook looked set for an anxious end to the season.
But two consecutive draws, followed by this victory over the Magpies at Mill Park have seen Paul Stuart's side ensure that they will not finish in the bottom two.
This was no mean feat by the novice, at this level, manager who was given very little chance of steering the Tamarside club clear of the re-election zone at the beginning of the season.
They opened the season with victories over Porthleven and St Austell so perhaps Stuart could afford a little smile at the final whistle as his side ended their season in the same manner as they began it – with a victory at Mill Park. Millbrook had to withstand pressure from their visitors despite taking a fifth minute lead in their very first attack of the game.
Paul Baker's astute 20 yard pass found Austen Beeney on the edge of the box with time to hit a fine left-footed drive past goalkeeper Dennis Annear.
Penzance continued to push the home side back and were unlucky when central defender Mark Hope's 25-yard free-kick crashed against Richard Rowe's crossbar..
The visitors finally equalised 20 minutes from time with Annear scoring from the penalty spot after Stuart Berry had been penalised.
Within five minutes Millbrook were back in the lead as Ibbotson, who had earlier missed a similar opportunity, burst clear to see his lob over Annear sail into the back of the net.
Torpoint Athletic 1 Plymouth Parkway 1
An equaliser seven minutes from time rescued a point for Torpoint after the visitors had taken the lead in the first minute at The Mill.
Parkway, already secure in fifth place in the table, raced into the lead when striker Andy Bowker found space on the flank to whip over a curling cross.
Fellow striker Marcus Crocker missed the ball completely but his blushes were saved as his skipper, Liam Price, raced in behind him to crack the ball home via the outstretched hands of goalkeeper Ellis Glassup.
The action switched from end to end without either goalkeeper really being troubled, although the game was played at a frenetic pace throughout.
It was not until the 83rd minute that the home side equalised, Paul Partridge letting fly from 20 yards only for the ball to hit a defender and fall kindly for Mike Roberts to lift over 'keeper Stuart Dudley from six yards.
Torpoint now finish the season with three home games in the space of 11 days with the incentive of mid-table respectibility on offer.
Porthleven 2
Saltash Utd 1
Ashes supporters will take heart from this battling performance at Gala Parc, especially after witnessing the humiliating 7-0 home defeat by deadly rivals Liskeard in their last game.
Port, as expected, had most of the play but it was Ashes who almost took an early lead as Malcolm Wills's fine effort flew just wide of Gary Penhaligon's post.
Both sides created and missed chances with Lee Harvey, Paul Ainscough and Jamie Morrison-Hill going close for the home side and Ross Saint and Wills reciprocating for the visitors.
Dungey did well to beat out a great shot from Ainscough before Saltash made the breakthrough in the 32nd minute with Wills volleying home.
The second half was mostly Porthleven with Dungey keeping Saltash in the game with several fine saves but he was helpless to prevent the 68th minute equaliser.
Craig Swiggs's quick free-kick found the Ashes defence asleep, allowing Dave Larson to steal in and drive the ball home.
Porthleven stepped up the pressure in search of a winner, which finally came six minutes from time when skipper Adrian Bleasdale scored direct from a free-kick after he had been fouled on the edge of the box.
Tavistock 2
Saltash United 0
No doubt the end of the season cannot come quickly enough for this depleted Ashes side as the sights are now firmly set on the next campaign under new manager Allan Evans.
No-one could doubt the fighting spirit of the side, as they showed at Porthleven, but once again had the opposition had their shooting boots on then the scoreline would have sported an entirely different complexion.
For the Lambs of Tavistock this was a comfortable victory as they eased their way into seventh place in the table.
A combination of lack-lustre finishing and good goalkeeping by James Dungey restricted the home side to two second half goals.
They opended the scoring in the 56th minute as Graeme Kirkup threaded the ball down the flank to diminutive striker Steve Daymond, who cut inside and lashed the ball over the head of Dungey.
More chance came and went before the home supporters were able to relax as good play by Parnell set up Hodge to blast the ball home from 12 yards.
