SOUTH WEST ONE

Caradon 6

Caradon started stro-ngly in their latest South West One encounter, and were two goals to the good within the first quarter.

Leon Farrow opened the scoreline with a perfectly-timed finish, having worked his way through the visiting defence, and Jake Joyce took the second with a fine flicked shot to hit the top corner of the net.

Tavistock then came back with a clean finish from a short corner and almost drew level, only for the goal to be disallowed.

Returning to the attack, Charlie McCartney deflected a powerful free-hit to take Caradon's third, but Tavistock took advantage of the home side's aggressive attack with effective counters when the midfielders were committed.

One such quick counter forced a save from 'keeper Toby Riddle; the rebound was picked up by Tavistock and, with Riddle still recovering, a clear shot on goal was denied by the shin pads of a well-positioned Steve Walsh.

The resulting penalty flick was converted to take the score to 3-2.

Demonstrating some excellent link-up play, the hosts went 4-2 up before the break.

A move that started from a sideline saw some slick passing through Tamblin, McCartney and Farrow for Dom Ball to slot the ball home.

The second period saw fewer goals and a more determined Tavistock display.

After McCartney took his second and Neil Mullis found form to take Caradon's sixth, the visitors threw everything in, with attacks coming from all directions.

However, they were unable to make an impact on the final result and Caradon came away with the full three points and a useful improvement to their goal difference.

The Man-of-the-Match was goal keeper Toby Riddle who, for once, was left speechless!

Caradon have an away fixture at Penzance tomorrow.
