LOOE’S mayor proved he is always prepared to leap into action as he shot down a zip wire for a good cause.
Armand Toms had come along to the Adrenaline Quarry near Liskeard to support Poppy Man Dave Welch and David Massey of the RBL, as well as Looe Town Council staff Annette Keen and Laura Kellaway. The four were taking on the 490 m zipwire challenge for the Royal British Legion and the Mayor’s charity.
But when the chance came to get in on the action, Armand could not resist taking the thrilling 40mph ride down the wire.
Having just come from the launch of Looe Rowing Club’s new gig, the mayor was in formal attire, include the heavy chains of office.
But this outfit was nothing compared to the distinctive head to toe poppy suit worn by Dave Welch as he sped over the water filled quarry.
Annette’s husband Simon decided he would join in with the fun too - and more than £500 has been pledged for the six fundraisers so far.
