LISKEARD mayor Sandra Preston saw the latest designed Anschutz target rifles with top Liskeard marksman Mike Schopman during a visit to Liskeard and District Rifle Club. The mayor made an inspection during a normal Friday night club meeting of the 25-metre indoor shooting range at Lux Park Leisure Centre. Mayor Preston said: 'I was impressed by the club's safety standards and amazed at the accuracy and performance of the equipment.' Liskeard and District Rifle Club recently hosted an inter-club East versus West competition which attracted 30 competitors from other target shooting clubs throughout Cornwall including Helston, Penzance, Bodmin and St Austell. The annual competition, called The Horseshoe, is well established and takes its name from a now disbanded Cornish Army Regiment first formed in 1914.
