The 130th Annual Choral Festival held in Truro Cathedral was a great success with some 350 singers from all over Cornwall taking part.

The festival, organised by the Truro Diocesan Choral Union, and entitled ‘O for a thousand tongues’, celebrated the tradition of singing in Cornwall with a wide variety of music.

The singers were conducted by the cathedral’s Director of Music, Chris Gray, and the organ was played by the assistant, Michael Butterfield. The cathedral choir, known nationally for its very high standard, inspired the other singers with their singing of the setting of the Magnificat by Herbert Howells.

The service concluded with a stirring performance of the Finale from Vierne’s First Symphony.

Next year’s Festival will be held on October 3. If you would like details, email [email protected]
