TWO regular markets are being launched selling local produce and crafts at the new Quayside Community Centre in Looe.

It is hoped the initiative will bring more people into the port.

The produce market will run from 10am until 4pm on June 8 and will be supported by a number of local producers.

The craft market will be held on Sunday, June 9, from 11am to 4pm.

The markets will then run on every second and fourth Saturday and Sunday of each month.

Tina Hicks, chief executive of Looe Harbour Commissioners, said: 'The local markets are a very important part of this community project. Not only will they showcase the excellent produce and crafts that we have available in the town, they will also encourage people to visit Looe out of season, as we intend to run the markets all through the year.'
