LISKEARD Town Council is to revive the market tradition in the town with a new country produce market to be held on The Parade every fortnight.

The first market will take place on Saturday, August 18, in conjunction with the Liskeard Traders' Association which will be organising street games and entertainment on Baytree Hill and Fore Street.

The market, which is a prelude to the start of a regular market in September, will specialise in country produce and crafts from local traders. There will also be a traditional-style pannier market selling everyday goods held in the Public Hall.

Cllr Steve Barrett said: 'We are pleased to be able to revive the markets to help increase footfall in the town, which should in turn complement the wonderful shops that already exist.'
