A light, easterly wind caused a lumpy sea, making conditions less than comfortable in Looe Bay in the battle for the Monthly Cup, but no quarter was given throughout the six-mile course.

In the Redwing Class, Arthur Kinver and daughter Tamsyn led the fleet until a senior moment occured when they rounded a mark the wrong way, opening the door for ace predators, Des and Florence Hocking, to take control and romp home to victory.

Geoff Godbolt and Dale Tedder, and cousin Peter Kinver with Jack Pope crewing, all took advantage of the major error to take second and third spots.

The conditions also suited Mirror helm Esther Bowdler and crew Austin Rudd, who won by a complete leg of the course.  Helming for the first time, young Joe Jackman and crew Jasmine Toms put in a sterling effort and the future looks bright for them and others taking part in the club's training programme.
