The adjudicator of the speech section at the Saltash music, speech and drama festival, Margaret Bailey, said that she was as good as returning home.

Miss Bailey lived in Saltash from the age of three until her marriage at 25, and although not born in the town said she calls herself a Saltash girl. She last adjudicated in Saltash in l992. She now works extensively in television and radio, teaches students in all aspects of speech and drama, and examines for the Guildhall school of music and drama.

She said her one regret about the Saltash festival is that the competitors frequently do not have a large enough audience.

This week the music section has been in full swing, ending with the final concert tomorrow (February 12) in which competitors of all three festival sections will take part. Tickets are available for members of the public to attend.
