A HUSBAND and wife team are appealing for people to get behind their bid to raise £5,000 for charity. Pam and Peter Andrews, who run a building company on West Street, Liskeard, are hoping to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Research by running the London Marathon in April. The couple will be running in memory of Pam's mother and two close friends who were all sufferers of the disease. After having both their application forms accepted to take part in the race, Pam and Peter are now starting the difficult task of raising the money. 'We are doing everything we can to get as much money as possible,' said Pam. 'We are holding coffee mornings, asking friends, relatives, anyone. 'And it is not like we are in our 20s or 30s or even 40s! I had my 50th birthday last summer and really wanted to run this year as I did a sponsored swim for Macmillan when I was 40. 'Everyone is delighted that we have both managed to get involved in the marathon this year 'We both had our applications turned down last year, and were worried that one of us would get in and the other wouldn't. But we are both in. 'We have been training for this for the past couple of years and we are ready for the challenge.' To sponsor Peter or Pam, call Liskeard (01579) 345918.
