A 75-YEAR-OLD man in a wheelchair had to be rescued by firefighters after getting trapped in the lift at Liskeard Library.
'Tug' Wilson was coming down from the upper floor when the lift stuck.
The former Navy man could be seen calmly flipping through his library books in the glass-sided lift as six firefighters from Liskeard worked to free him.
Forty five minutes later 'Tug' from Rilla Mill was freed and came out smiling after his ordeal.
'This is the second time this has happened to me,' he said. 'Two years ago I was stuck in this lift for two hours – I managed to read a whole book while I was waiting to be rescued.'
Station manager Robert Collins said the brigade had been happy to assist.
'This is the sixth time in about five years we have been called to Liskeard Library for exactly the same emergency,' he said.
