Saltash Leisure Centre and Liskeard's Lux Park Leisure Centre have both been awarded prestigious Aquamark status for their swimming lesson programmes. The Aquamark inspector praised both of the Caradon District Council-run leisure centres for their determination to give a high quality service to the more than 1,400 children enrolled on swimming lessons. Lux Park Leisure Centre's staff were singled out for their friendliness and courtesy, which the inspector said created a happy and positive atmosphere during swimming lessons.  The inspector also congratulated staff on 'operating such a successful and sound quality programme'. Saltash Leisure Centre was recognised for offering 'a quality learn-to-swim programme founded on sound teaching principles'.  The inspector praised its staff for being 'proactive, dedicated and very keen to deliver best swim tuition' and 'unfailingly friendly and courteous to everyone'. Councillor John Yaxley, Caradon District Council's environment and recreation portfolio holder, said: 'Aquamark status means that parents can be confident their children will receive the very highest quality swimming instruction at our Saltash and Lux Park Leisure Centres.  'The staff at both leisure centres are to be commended for their commitment to teaching local children to swim.'
