The main road between Liskeard and Callington was closed by police due to two collisions and a large fuel spill this morning.
Police were called to the first collision on the A390 on the hill between Liskeard Road, Callington, and Newbridge at 7.15am. No injuries had resulted from this first collision but a large quantity of fuel had spread over the road.
At 7.45am officers were made aware of a second single vehicle collision in which a driver is understood to have suffered a possible neck injury. An ambulance was called to the scene and police closed the road in both directions.
At the time a Cornish Times reporter arrived at the Callington end of the road closure, a police officer explained that a gritting lorry was just arriving to help make the roadway safe.
Meanwhile traffic on the road from St Ive was reportedly slow and drivers at the Callington end faced long diversions via the lanes to Landrake and Quethiock or via the A388 to join the A38 near Saltash.
The accidents scene was reported to be cleared at 9.39am and traffic was at that stage said to be back to normal.
