THE 95th Liskeard and District Prime Stock Show has been hailed a 'great success' by this year's president Anne Purdon.
She described the livestock show entries in the cattle market as 'magnificent' and the displays in the competitions at the Eliot House Hotel as 'fantastic'.
Cattle entries in the first of this season's winter shows were up and there was an excellent showing of sheep, although entries were slightly down. Supreme Overall Champion and winner of the Gordon Shepherd Cup was Susie Sioux, an Aberdeen Angus x Limousin x British Blue, owned by a delighted Nigel Jenkinson from Shebbear (above left).
Flying the flag for South East Cornwall was Elizabeth Bunkum, of Merrymeet, who took the Reserve Champion title with her Limousin Cross Swager Jager (centre). Also pictured are judge Nick Hill (back) and show president Anne Purdon.
It was a local clean sweep in the sheep championships with Gwen Renfree, of Dannett Farm, Quethiock, (right) taking the Supreme title and the Creber Perpetual Memorial Cup with Beatrice, a Zwartbles. Reserve Champion, with a pair of Texel Cross ewe lambs, was Katy Rowe of Great Lizzen Farm, Polperro.
