Canoeists, rowers and paddlers of all ages are being encouraged to take part in a fun charity challenge. The River Lynher Challenge, now in its third year, sees oared and paddled craft of all kinds setting off from Jubilee Green in Saltash for a six-mile jaunt upriver to St Germans. It has raised more than £4,000 for Help for Heroes since 2014 and organiser Dan Barnes says he would like this year’s to be the best one yet. ‘The Lynher River Challenge is a great way to show our appreciation for all the work done by Help for Heroes, while enjoying a fun event on this beautiful stretch of river,’ he said. ‘Any oared or paddled craft, whether canoes, kayaks, flashboats, skiffs or gigs or any other rowing boat, are welcome to take part, and the event is for all levels and ages. There will be boats in attendance along the route. We’d also like people to come along to the Quay and support shore-side.’ On the quay at St Germans will be entertainment for people of all ages, a barbecue, raffle and a duck race, with live music to welcome the participants home. The paddlers will leave Jubilee Green at Saltash as near to 3.30pm as possible and finish at the Quay Sailing Club in St Germans from around 4.30pm onwards. The Lynher River Challenge will take place on Saturday, June 18. For further information and to obtain a sponsorship form contact Dan Barnes at [email protected]
