A DONATION was made to Looe Lifeboats by the family of a man who loved the sea.
Michael Curle and his wife Diane moved to Polperro some 20 years ago after retiring from the family plant hire business in Shifnal, Shropshire.
Michael owned his own boat and had a real affinity with the sea, as well as being a keen swimmer. But tragically, he lost his life whilst swimming off the coast of Sri Lanka earlier this year.
Diane, accompanied by the couple’s children Vicki and Stuart, visited Looe Lifeboat Station to present £941 raised from a collection held at Michael’s funeral.
Looe RNLI’s lifeboat operations manager Dave Haines said the station was most grateful for the very generous donation.
He said: ‘It will be used to fund the equipment and crew training we need to continue our local role of saving lives at sea.’
