In this week’s Cornish Times, we lead with the story of a woman near Liskeard who wants everyone to know about the Primrose Breast Cancer Centre and the wonderful care they gave her. Alex Shute had to face much of her treatment and surgery alone, but as she was recovering, she took on a massive physical feat to raise money for this valuable charity.

Our local Relay for Life teams are another group bringing care for cancer patients, and research into diagnosis and treatments, to the fore. They’ve raised many tens of thousands of pounds for Cancer Research UK over the years – and now singer Luke Middleton is releasing his single for the cause – a poignant song he wrote especially for Relay.

Inside the paper this week, we hear about the garage which said it was losing trade and money because of new rules from the DVSA – and a town council’s objections to an expansion of a supermarket petrol station facility.

Find out about the local publican who is being commemorated with her very own purple plaque – and why a Cornish visitor attraction says that it’s so important that everyone takes part in this weekend’s census survey.

New cycle and multi-use trails are being planned to connect Looe, Liskeard, Bodmin and the Rame Peninsula, and there will be shorter local loops in each area. Cornwall Council has told us about the benefits of the trails to health and the economy – but there are concerns over where the routes will go – find out why local people are worried and why they’ve criticized the Council for its approach.

Also in your Cornish Times – get up to date on cases that have been heard in the magistrates courts and see what’s on the minds of local readers who’ve written in to our lively letters pages this week.

We bring you five pages of excellent local and regional Sports coverage, including an interview with Liskeard AFC head coach Lee Mann about a tough few weeks for the Blues with the loss of several players, injury amongst others and the frustrations of restrictions being felt by all local clubs.
