Granite bench

vandalised

A community minded resident of East Looe has cleaned up the mess caused by vandalism on the Wooldown, in an effort to keep the area a pleasant place in which to sit.

He scrubbed clean one of the granite benches in Threepenny field which was covered in graffiti by someone using a can of paint spray. The offence took place sometime between late on Friday night and the early hours of Saturday morning.

The area is owned by East Looe Town Trust, and chairman, Mrs Glynis Gibson, said: ' We cannot praise or thank enough the good hearted resident for his clean up operation. We deplore vandalism of any sort, it is mindless and completely unnecessary'.

Toc H books

selling well

THE members of Looe Branch of Toc H wish to express their thanks to all those who gave them encouragement and compliments as they passed by when they were recently re-painting their headquarters on the Millpool.

They report their summer sale of second hand books is well under way and is usually open for business from Wednesday to Friday, 11am - 3.30pm. It is hoped the sales will be more frequent in the main season. The funds raised each year are for the Toc H donation programme to local charities and the annual senior citizens' party each spring.

'Toc H is about people and the community and giving a helping hand' said secretary Barbara Birchwood-Harper, ' and we hope to be organising some winter events as well in order to boost our funds'.

Donations of unwanted books are needed all the time, as are readers to purchase them!
