Councillor Webb
re-elected chairman
At a meeting of the town council's finance committee on Monday, councillors Don Webb and Colin Shore were re-elected as chairman and vice chairman respectively.
Funds are to be set aside for the provision of a new seat in St Nicholas Garden at West Looe, but it was decided not to contribute any funds to Cornwall County Council in support of the county wide concessionary fares on public transport scheme.
Councillors Frances Kenshole and Colin Shore have been elected as chairman and vice chairman of the planning committee.
Town council
vacancy
AS no one responded to the public notice giving residents the right to call for an election, following the resignation of town councillor Les Young at May's annual general meeting, the next move has now to be decided. The cut off date had been June 8.
Town clerk Colin Easterbrook said at the next full town council meeting on Monday, July 9, councillors will decide whether to co-opt from nominations or applications from individuals personally, or they could also call for an election.
Mr Easterbrook confirmed that as yet no councillor had given an intention of resigning since the last town council meeting when councillor Frances Kenshole had deplored the low number present.
The meeting had voted that a letter be sent to all councillors giving them the opportunity to resign, if they felt they could not find the necessary time to attend meetings on a regular basis.
Four new trustees
FOLLOWING the resignations of four East Looe Town Trustees, co-options to take their places and bring the Trust up to 12 in number have now taken place.
The new Trustees are Dave Skentelbery, councillors Frank Wright and Carole Andrews, and Bryan Willison.
Forum change
THE next meeting of Looe Town Forum will now take place at Looe Community School on Wednesday, July 11, at 7pm, and not on the 18th as previously arranged.
Planners favour
12 new homes
CARADON officers were to set to recommend approval with conditions, at the meeting of planning committee west on Thursday night (yesterday), of the controversial application for the construction of 12 dwellings on land at Pleydon Lane, Killigarth. The application is also for a new vehicular/pedestrian access to the highway.
Lansallos parish council has objected to the plan saying the location is not suitable, it is outside the development limit and highly visible. There have also been 14 letters of objection from local residents in the area, including a nine signature petition lodged by S Jones of Carey Park, Killigarth.
