Funding appeal
for a play area
AN appeal has gone out for help towards the provision of a children's play area in Polperro.
The plea has been made by the Tenants and Residents' Association of Polperro (TRAP). Members say a play area is well overdue for the youngsters of the Hillsview Estate and Polperro village, and that funding, donations and assistance are desperately needed. At the moment there are only three very worn swings available on the Hillsview Estate, for about 30 children to use.
TRAP has made enquiries about an ideal piece of land for the facility, and has been pleased with the progress made. But secretary, Tanya Roberts, said help and money is now needed to develop the play area.
Anyone who can help, or has any fund-raising ideas, should contact Kreisha Mathews at 25 Hillsview, or Tanya at 35 Hillsview.

Charity Fashion
Show
LISKEARD and Looe Ladies Circle are preparing for what hopefully may be one of their biggest fund raising events this year. They are holding a Charity Fashion show at the Waterfront Complex, Millendreath, by permission of the owners on Friday, September 29th at 7:30pm. Proceeds from the event will be donated to Mount Edgecumbe Hospice and Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Providing the garments will be a firm called Pam's People, who specialise in available designer evening wear for all sizes from 6 to 24. Also on show will be a range of fashion jewellery and lingerie to compliment the outfits and to finish your whole new look will be a range of natural beauty products. Some members of Liskeard and Looe Ladies Circle have been persuaded to act as models for the evening with a few men from Liskeard and Looe Round Table also dragged onto the catwalk to escort the ladies through their paces. At the end of the night there will be an opportunity for anyone to try on and purchase any of the outfits shown.
During the evening a raffle will be held with many great prizes donated by local businesses including a meal for two at Trelaske Country hotel, a meal at Tom Sawyers and a week at Duporth Holiday Village donated by Tencreek Holiday Park. The Ladies circle usually hold a Macmillan Coffee Morning at this time of year but due to the fact that the date clashes with the fashion show they have decided that the proceeds from the raffle will go to the Macmillan Fund this year.
Tickets for the Fashion Show at £5 to include a glass of wine are available from The Flower Gallery in Liskeard or Looe Bakery in Looe. For further details contact Alison on (01579) 347131 or Mandy on (01503) 262952.
