Joker card for Looe driver

Looe racing driver, Ian Connell has notched up his second win of the season in round two of the Le Mans Motorsport Championship at Cadwell Park.

The victory was doubly sweet for the SPAR-backed driver, who works for Appleby Westward, because he played the once-a-season joker card, which allowed him to double his points score.

Ian, driving his own V6 three litre Alfa Romeo, began in third place but took the lead on lap three and finished 10 seconds ahead of his nearest rival.

The result, plus gaining pole position in practice and recording the fastest lap in the race, gave him 64 points and the championship lead.

Ian's next races are at Mallory Park, Leicester on Easter Monday and Castle Coombe in Bristol on May Day.
