First aid for all

Anyone who has an interest in learning basic first aid skills which would cover most situations in a family home, is invited to attend the first aid open meetings to be run by Looe St John Ambulance Brigade at the Ambulance Station in the Millpool.

There are three sessions taking place, beginning at 8pm on Mondays March 6, 13 and 20, and organiser, Supt Ann Tomkinson, says they are practical demonstrations which will give people the confidence and know how to deal with most emergency situations which could occur in the home environment.

Anyone requiring more information can contact Mrs Tomkinson on 01503 263357.

March winds for flower ladies

Flight of Fancy will be the name of the demonstration to be given by Mrs Myra Kendall to the members of Looe and District Flower Arrangement Society who next meet at Pelynt Village Hall on Tuesday, March 7 at 2.15pm. The competition will be 'March Winds' and there will be an "odds and ends" sales table.

Plymco bus is back

Plymco has announced the re-introduction of their free bus service from Looe to their Transit Way store and shopping village in Plymouth, which resumed on Wednesday.

The company stopped the service as they felt it was being underused but letters from an action group, disappointed at the loss of the service have persuaded Plymco to think again.

Passengers are asked to pay £1 on the bus which is matched on their shopping bill at the other end.

Parking charges under review

At the finance meeting of the Harbour Board on Friday, chairman Robert Newton suggested an increase in parking charges in time for the coming season. He thought this would go some way to offset the investment required for the new fish market extension. However, Commissioner Mally Toms proposed that his suggestion be held over and discussed at the next meeting.

Mr Newton's suggested increases were: 1 hr 30p increased to 40p; 2 hrs 50p-65p; 3 hrs £1-£1.30; 4 hrs £1.20-£1.60; 10 hrs £2.20-£3; 24 hrs £3.50-£5. Coaches £3.50-£5.
