A popular festival due to take place in Looe later this month has been cancelled at short notice.

The charity behind the Looe Music Festival says it has ceased trading and is in the process of going into administration.

Thousands of tickets for the event have been sold at £99 for three days.

An announcement on the Looe Music Festival website and social media states: ’We are very sorry to announce that this year’s festival is cancelled. The charity that delivers the event has ceased trading and is in the process of going into administration. We will release more information in due course.’

This year’s Looe Music Festival would have been the eighth to be held in the town, and The Stranglers and The Waterboys were among the headline acts lined up. Ticket-holders have reacted with shock and some anger to the late announcement that the event will be cancelled, with no updates as yet from organisers about refunds.
