TRAFFIC difficulties are expected for the whole of next week when Cornwall County Council will be closing part of the Looe valley road from Monday, October 16, at the junction at the bottom of St Martin's Hill (B3253) for a distance of approximately three quarters of a mile along the A387. This is to enable the council to carry out re-surfacing work.

All journeys into and out of the town centre will have to be via St Martin's Hill, and local traffic would be advised to avoid this area, unless absolutely necessary, during the busiest times of day which will be the school rush first thing in the mornings and at the close of the school day, when hold ups will be most likely.

Lorries

Traffic will be able to continue into Morval and Sandplace as usual from a northern approach, but all vehicles, including delivery lorries wishing to access the town will be expected to travel generally north east along the A387 to Widegates, then south west along the B3253 to the southern end of the closure at the bottom of St Martin's Hill.

Traffic will then be able to proceed into town as normal, but will have to go up St Martin's Hill again on the exit journey.

It is envisaged from past experience, that the already difficult turning on the hill junction will create problems if lorries and buses meet.
