A fictional version of Looe provides the backdrop for the latest offering from local website and computer game creators Shadow Tor Studios, whose previous offerings have already won global critical acclaim. Matt Clark and his colleague Jonathan Boakes live and work in Looe and say the interest generated by their previous games, Dark Fall and Dark Fall2, is providing a valuable spin-off in the form of games enthusiasts from Europe and the United States who regularly travel to South East Cornwall to see the sites which provide the locations for their work. Their first game, Dark fall, was published in 2002 and set in Devon, while the 2004 sequel is set in a 'slightly fictionalised' Polperro. The latest offering, Barrow Hill, is a supernatural thriller based around a megalithic monument and stone circle and, says Matt, is best described as an exploration puzzle-based game with educational content – and no guns, action sequences or adult content.
