A church is hoping to involve as many people as possible in a restoration project to ensure the building remains cherished - rather than ‘locked and lost’.
At St Sampson’s Church in South Hill, there are urgent repairs to be done: the celling has holes in it and the roof needs re-slating to prevent water coming in.
Window and stone work repairs are required, and work needs doing on the tower. The refurbishment will cost at least £300,000, says the church council.
Members hope to see the church used by the whole community into the future, and envisage it as a place for concerts, exhibitions, meetings and classes.
A meeting will be held this evening (Monday) at Golberdon Parish Hall at 7.30pm, and all are welcome.
