Cannister detonated
A cannister with French markings was detonated on Tregantle Beach Whitsand Bay on Monday, after a team of RN bomb disposal experts had cleared around 100 people off the sands.
The finding of the 16 inch silver metal object, believed to have been a phosphorous smoke marker, was reported to the Brixham coastguards at 2.00pm.
Bridge jump foiled
Staff came to the aid of a young woman who threatened to throw herself of the Tamar Bridge and managed to talk her down before the police arrived arrived.
The incident happened at around 12.45pm on Saturday and the 20-year old was taken to Derriford Hospital in a distressed state.
Ferry room fire
A fire which started in the waiting room on the Devonport side of the Torpoint ferry caused damage to a seat. The incident happened at around 3.30am.
Kosovan homes
Caradon is among local district councils which have been looking at the possibility of providing temporary homes for Kosovar refugees.
Tavistock is already preparing to receive some of the 80 to 160 Kosovans who could be arriving in West Devon by September and a hotline for use by anyone with suitable accommodation has been set up.
Chip pan blaze
A chip pan fire at a home in Hawkes Park, Saltash was put out by firefighters from the town's fire station at around 8.00pm on Sunday evening. Wearing breathing equipment, they put out the blaze using a Co2 cannister.
TV set fire
Two fire crews were called to a house in St Stephens Close, Saltash early on Bank Holiday Monday when a television caught fire. The fire was extinguished at around 12.30am.
