CSWPL PREMIER DIVISION Liskeard 1 Buckland 3 (Wednesday) THE mood of the Liskeard players in the Lux Park clubhouse, after yet another defeat, epitomised the problems facing the Blues' management if they are to turn this season around. Heads were still down an hour after the final whistle after yet another dismal display that saw an ordinary Buckland side complete the double over the Blues. The first half belonged to Liskeard, but for all their possession they rarely troubled Buckland goalkeeper Neil Montandon. Good covering by Shaun Lyne-Ley robbed James Miller of a shooting chance, before Montandon grabbed Chris Wright's drive from the edge of the area at the second attempt. Player-manager Robbie Herrera laid on a chance for David Woodfield, but he failed to control the ball before finally scooping his shot wide at the far post. Liskeard finally made the breakthrough on 32 minutes when Miller beat Montandon with a sublime 25-yard chip. Miller tried his luck again, four minutes later, but this time Montandon recovered his ground to grab the ball under the crossbar. Dominic Richardson almost doubled the Blues' lead five minutes after the break, but his initial shot was blocked and he fired the loose ball wide. The significance of that miss was plain to see when Buckland shook the home crowd as Harry Taylor fired them level on 63 minutes. Miller should have equalised straight from the restart, but he fired across the face of the goal when clear. Buckland were now on top and Gavin Hammon's forceful run ended with him firing across stand-in goalkeeper Nick Carpenter and inside the far post. Substitute Ben Cowling was denied by a good save from Montandon as Liskeard tried to rescue a point, but their hopes were destroyed when Pegley's close-range effort came back off the bar for Hammon to sweep home his second of the game.
