The soccer year 2000 has already resulted in silverware for Liskeard's footballers - for at Blaise Park, St Blazey, on Easter Sunday they ran out East Cornwall Premier League cup winners.
The team, who are currently flying high in second place in the East Cornwall League, beat Roche 3-1, watched by a crowd of around 400.
The Blues, managed by Martin Hodge and Colin Barrett, were put on their way to victory by two goals from Paul Webber, and a header from Nick Senior. They also had a penalty saved. Liskeard captain 'Willie' Williams received the trophy from League chairman, Ken Adkins.
This is not the end of Liskeard's quest for trophies for season l999-2000, for they will now represent the East Cornwall Premier League against Jolly's Cornwall Combination League cup winners, Truro. This clash is to take place in the George Evely cup final on May 7 at Penryn.
