LISKEARD Town Forum is seeking people’s views on road safety around the town.

After issues were raised at the last forum meeting about road safety in Liskeard, members are keen to hear from residents about their experiences of the roads around Liskeard.

Liskeard Town Councillor David Ambler, the town forum chair, said: “A number of road locations have been identified, and if residents have photos, videos or comments about using the crossings, footpaths and roads around Liskeard, we would be keen to see, and hear, them. This information will allow the Liskeard Town Forum to raise particular issues and support other conversations in the town like the Active Travel Project.”

He explained that a particular location of concern is the zebra crossing at the top of Pike Street, between Barclays Bank and the Old Fountain Pub. He said: “If residents have videos of drivers failing to stop, or experience of being on the crossing when traffic comes through, please share with the Liskeard Town Forum on the email [email protected] or by dropping in letters marked for The Liskeard Town Forum, c/o the Liskeard Town Council office, 3-5 West Street, Liskeard. Cornwall PL14 6BW.”

He added: “The Liskeard Town Forum is here for all Liskeard Residents, Community groups and businesses. As we come out of the COVID restrictions, the forum is also looking for new ideas and projects that residents would like to see for the town.

“These ideas and projects could be something to improve the regeneration of the town, launching a new social event, developing environmental projects, or increasing investment into the town. No idea is too whacky or too small, just bring them along, and share your thoughts on how you, and us, could improve Liskeard going forward.”

Examples of projects the forum has been working on so far include ideas for the Old Water Fountain on the Parade, improving footpaths, water refill stations, birds and bees environmental projects, campaigning on parking costs, and supporting the Safe A38 campaign.

Cllr Ambler said: “The forum has also been working on various other projects identified by Liskeard residents, so please watch this space for news on those.”

“Check out our website, www.liskeardforum.org.uk to see these projects, which we are progressing to completion at the moment, and attend our next meeting on March 9 at 7.30pm at Liskeard Public Hall.”
