Funds for heart foundation

THE Liskerret Male Voice Choir performed in Liskeard Methodist Church together with St Columba Celtic Choir.

The successful and entertaining evening raising £500 for the British Heart Foundation.

Musical director was Roy Wilton and compere was Adrian Wilton. A highlight was when Hedley Toms, one of the longest surviving members of the original choir joined members for the rendition of Trelawny. The BHF local committee thanked everyone who took part.

The next fundraiser for the charity is an open garden afternoon at Churchtown, Morval, on Sunday, April 21, by kind permission of Mrs M A Kitson. The event is from 2pm-5pm and admission will be £1.50 to look around this beautiful 250-year-old walled garden in the centre of the Morval Estate. There will be plant and cake stalls and refreshments.

The annual general meeting of the Liskeard branch of BHF is on Wednesday, April 24, in the Long Room, Public Hall, at 8pm. Everyone welcome.

Trust to run fun quiz night

LISKEARD'S Kindu Trust which raises money to buy family homes for orphaned children in Ethiopia is organising a fun quiz night at the Hotel Nebula, tonight (Friday, April 19) at 7.30pm.

The trust is hoping for good support and is inviting anyone who would like to help this worthwhile cause to come along for an enjoyable evening out. They say come alone or bring a team from work, pub or club.

Successful fashion show

Liskeard/Looe Inner Wheel held a successful fashion show in the Public Hall.

The fashions were supplied by Martha Jupe of Market Street, Liskeard, and the show was compared by Rosemary Burn.

President Christine Pampling thanked everyone for helping to raise money for the local St John new ambulance appeal.

A total of £955 was raised.
