Mayor hosts ball

THERE will be more than a whiff of the l920s around in Liskeard on February 15, when town mayor Tony Powell and his wife Janet will host a 'St Valentines Day Massacre Ball'.

The ball is to be held at Liskeard Public Hall. There will be live entertainment and a disco and dress will be '1920s USA Prohibition'. The cost of £12.50 will include a three course meal and coffee and proceeds will be to mayor's charities. Tickets are available from the Public Hall.

Civic service

THE annual civic service in Liskeard is to be held on Sunday, February 3, at Liskeard Methodist chapel. The parade of local organisations is to leave the cattle market car park around 10.30-40am with the service to begin at 11am.

Lions' panto

THE finishing touches are being put to this year's pantomime, to be performed by the Lions of Liskeard on January 17-19.

This year the panto is Dick Whittington and the public can see the show, in the Public Hall, on January 19 at 7.30pm. Tickets are available from Stuprint, Hunt Associates and Geoffrey Harris Tyres.
