Drama
tackles
safety
issues
A FAST and entertaining drama which tackled the issues of road safety and bullying was presented at Liskeard school and community college this week by the Stopwatch Theatre Company.
The production, aimed at years 6-9, was provided by the county council's road safety units. The theatre group highlighted the dangers of 'playing chicken' with traffic, and the effects of bullying.
After the production, a workshop was held for pupils who were encouraged to participate in drama exercises to help them develop strategies to overcome peer pressure and realise the consequences of their decisions.
The theatre company went 'on tour' with the production, Liskeard being visited on Tuesday, together with Launceston College.
Action group
calls meeting
LAMELLION Residents Action Group, formed in the face of extensive housing proposals for Liskeard, are to hold a meeting on November 2 at the community school and college. The speaker will be local MP, Colin Breed.
Street name suggestions
LISKEARD town councillors have been told that Liskeard Grammar School Association has proposed that streets in the development at Old Road should be called Lingard Close and Travers Close, after former head teachers.
