Action on seagull problem
The group will meet on October 10 to consider the viability of culling, egg pricking and population control measures, nest removal at individual properties, proofing buildings and removing sources of food to control gulls.
Mr Powell said: 'The town council has pledged to commit funds to improving the control of the seagull menace in Liskeard. However, we need the expertise and advice that Caradon can access, and we need to work together with them to agree a set of controls which will make a serious impact. There also needs to be a long-term strategy. This is just the start of a serious attempt to deal with the problem.'
Churches'
outreach
AS part of the corporate evangelical outreach of the Liskeard churches, Pastor Philip Warne has offered to make the main hall of the Greenbank Christian Centre available every Wednesday afternoon for the over 60s in Liskeard and district to get together for a song, a talk, fellowship, and a cup of tea.
Anyone aged 60 or over who is free on Wednesday afternoons from 2pm-4pm is invited to join in.
A varied programme is being arranged every week.
£240
raised
A TOTAL of £240 for MacMillan Cancer Relief was raised as a result of the cream teas served at the home of Ann and Tre Ugalde.
A big thank you goes out to everyone who supported the event and also to the accordionists for their playing.
A sponsored day
for churches
THIS year the Cornwall Historic Churches Trust has its sponsored event day - to raise money to support churches and chapels in the county - on September 8 between l0am and 5pm. It is hoped some 20 chapels and churches in the Liskeard area will be open, with many of them having someone on duty to provide a cool drink or similar.
Of the money that is raised by individuals visiting as many churches or chapels as possible, half goes towards the trust and half to the individual's own church or chapel.
Apart from what usually tends to become a sponsored cycle ride, there are other sponsored events on the day which may include car washing, coffee mornings, walking, horse riding, and a knit in. A group from the Duloe, Herodsfoot, Trevelmond and Morval area are planning a sponsored walk from St Pinnock to Morval via Duloe and Herodsfoot, taking in chapels and churches on the way.
