Liskeard could share

town centre manager

THE question of appointing a project officer/town centre manager for Liskeard is still under discussion.

The matter was raised at a Town Forum meeting when Steve Foster, of Caradon District Council, explained that grant funders were not keen to fund a single town, but preferred towns to share such posts.

He said Callington and Calstock were part of pilot arrangements set up last year, and they have been allocated money because of the foot and mouth situation.

He added Liskeard had the prospect of sharing with another town, such as Looe.

Mr Foster said Caradon would support any town wishing to make a bid, and steered members towards a manual which gives guidance on how to make such an application.

Chairman Nick Mallard said the Regional Development Agency seems to be encouraging bids, and confirmed the town council had agreed to support the Forum taking the lead in this matter.
