Chamber
meeting
THE next meeting of Liskeard Chamber of Commerce will be held on April 30 at the Lord Eliot Hotel.
Any business wishing to come along or any firm which is experiencing problems due to the foot and mouth crisis will be made welcome. Chamber secretary Jane Pascoe said: 'The advantage of living in such a friendly community is that we can all help each other overcome difficulties. We are all in the same boat and most of the problems can be tackled together.'
She added the chamber has been appreciative of the hard work and assistance given from the local and regional branch of the Federation of Small Businesses. For further details contact Mrs Pascoe on 01579 342302 or visit the chamber website - http://www.liskeard-chamber-of-commerce.co.uk">www.liskeard-chamber-of-commerce.co.uk and http://www.Liskeard.com">www.Liskeard.com
Push for more
patrol people
THE push is on to recruit more school crossing patrol people - especially in the Liskeard area.
Due to illness, Liskeard infants school has been without a school crossing patrol since April 5.
Cornwall Council's road safety unit said they are always keen to recruit more school crossing patrols, reliefs and flying reliefs. Anyone interested should contact Heather Stripp at the county council road safety unit on 01872 327886.
Soccer festival
- for girls only
A ONE-day soccer festival for girls only is to be held at Lux Park, Liskeard, on April 19.
The event is one of four such festivals which have been arranged for the county. The Liskeard session will be held from l0am to 3pm at a cost of £5 for the day. Any girls interested should ring Dawn Bateman (01209 719844) or Phil Cardew (01726 64830) to book.
The Cornwall Women's Football League currently has 14 member clubs and is seeking additional teams for 2001-02. For information on joining the league, contact Wilf Frith on 01736 332310.
Linking into
quality of life
IMPROVING quality of life for people living within the PL14 postcode area, and promoting health and well-being, is the aim behind the newly-formed Liskeard LINK.
The organisation, which operates an 'open door' policy for interested individuals and group representatives, held its first meeting in December at Liskeard's Public Hall - and since then meetings have been held on the last Wednesday of every month from 1pm to 3pm. The venue for the next meeting, on April 25, is Heathlands, Heathlands Road, Liskeard. For further information contact Liz Webb on 348844, Alex Lochhead on 340718 or Angela Haimes on 344818.
