Residents group

for Lamellion

A LAMELLION residents group has been formed following a meeting held earlier this year to discuss plans to build 900 houses in the Lamellion and Lodge Hill area.

Anne Sandercock has been elected chairman of the group, which has fears regarding the impact of such housing on the rural environment and tourism at the head of the Looe Valley, the lack of infrastructure in Liskeard, and perhaps the compulsory purchase of people's property to facilitate development.

Also attending the meeting, at which the residents' group was formed, were town councillors Roger Holmes and Graham Sandercock.

Further group meetings are due to be held.

For more information contact Anne on 01579 345152.

Reunion for two

long-lost cousins

THERE was a special reunion in Liskeard when a Plymouth resident's search for her roots ended up with her finding a long-lost cousin.

Patsy Glass (nee Glanville) had set out in search of information regarding Northbrook Street, Devonport, where she was brought up. At the same time she requested information about her cousin, Joseph Grendon, about three to four years older than herself. Her quest led her to Joseph, now living in Culverland Park, Liskeard - and they were re-united after 40 years.

Patsy, now a grandmother with a large family, travelled to see Joseph from her current home in Whitleigh, Plymouth. Their meeting led to then vowing now to keep firmly in touch.

Patsy's father was a merchant seaman, but her mother, Eileen's maiden name was Grendon.
