MP to speak at
Chamber meeting
LISKEARD Chamber of Commerce held their first business meeting of the year on Monday, and were told local MP, Colin Breed, is to be a speaker at their April 2 meeting.
The meeting, at 7.30pm in the Lord Eliot Hotel, will take in Mr Breed answering queries in a 'Question Time' format. There were requests for occasional breakfast, luncheon and tea-time meetings, or social evenings, at various venues - and visits to other business premises. The first invitation has been received from James Brett, the manager, to visit the Department of Employment later in the year.
Members decided their slogan 'Liskeard Means Business' will remain, as they intend to continue to work together to promote the commercial centre. It was stressed that Chamber members were not only shopkeepers, but also many varied trades and professions. Those attending learnt of the imminent retirement of Mr and Mrs Fursman, ironmongers business in Liskeard who have been there for nearly a century, and best wishes were sent to them for their retirement.

Birthday for
a female team
A FIRST birthday has been celebrated by an all girl team.
It has been a year since Bradleys estate agents, in Liskeard, became known as Bradleys.
At the same time the girls - Samantha, Sarah and Louise - have welcomed back Ellie Stoyan to the town as branch manager. Ellie, who lives locally, was reunited with her negotiator, Samantha Elias, who has worked with her in the past.
The team, who offer free valuations without obligation, are now looking ahead to their second year. They can be contacted on 01579 346700, or their website at http://www.bradleys-estate-agents.co.uk">www.bradleys-estate-agents.co.uk
