Land Army days captured

A book just published by an elderly lady in Sheffield decribes her happy days serving in the Land Army at Pencubitt, Liskeard.

Primarily an account of the author's childhood and growing up in Pitsmoor, Sheffield, 'Lessons my Father taught me' by Dorothy Platt contains photos and anecdotes about her time as a Land Army girl and the friends she made at Pencubitt.

Greenvale AP appoints new head

David Cliffe has been appointed general manager for the south west by potato supplier Greenvale AP. In addition to managing company activities from offices at Liskeard and Ludgvan in Cornwall, he will be responsible for business development in Devon, Somerset and Dorset.

David is based at the Liskeard office, from where he and his staff coordinate the marketing of produce from a network of growers to a diverse national customer base.

This season the Greenvale AP plc Ludgvan operation will market in excess of 5000 tonnes of Early Potato product, much of which will be marketed under the prestigious Cornish King brand.

Stuart House plant sale

The annual 'Bring and Buy Plant Sale' will be held at Stuart House tomorrow (saturday) May 6 from 10am to 12 noon.

The members craft sale, held on the first Saturday of each month, will run concurrently. Bakes and home made biscuits will be served.
