A 100 years of wedding dresses

Liskeard Methodist Church is organising a special exhibition to take place on Friday and Saturday, April 28 and 29, entitiled "A Hundred Years of Wedding Dresses".

So far, gowns dating back to 1910 have been loaned for the display, but the church is still seeking some for the 1930's and 1940's to make the century complete. Bridal bouquets are being loaned by John-Anne The Florists and other businesses in the town are also being most helpful.

Visitors will be able to view the exhibition from 10am-7pm on the Friday and 10am-5pm on the Saturday, and each day there will coffee and tea available together with a slice of wedding cake made by church member Miss Doris Lobb. There will also be guest organists.

The event is being organised as a fundraiser for the church's Wind and Watertight Fund, which has been set up to help with the estimated £80,000-£100,000 repairs needed to replace slates at the back of the large building, and to combat a damp problem.

Anyone who would like to contribute to the display or the fund can do so by contacting Mrs Karen Olver on 01579 348438.
