Hand bells were rung

At the monthly meeting of the Liskeard and Pensilva group of the Civil Service Retirement Fellowship the Roseveare Hand Bell Ringers from Quethiock entertained.

Old tunes such of 'Streets of London' were played, and later members of the audience took turns at ringing.

The meeting heard that over 50 members and friends had been on a theatre trip to Plymouth to see Lautrec. The next group meeting will be in the Public Hall, Liskeard on April 26 when Richard Bower will talk on 'Recycling Waste'.

Trust meeting

The Stuart House Trust AGM will be taking place on Wednesday April 12 at 7.30pm. There will be a social evening with wine afterwards and non-members will be welcome.

Prize draw school

The Liskeard firm Sharcare, which produces specialised equipment for children with different disorders, is currently organising a prize draw to raise funds for a special school in Ivybridge.

Lynda Jordan and Kim Stacey, of Sharcare, are running the draw for the Dame Hannah Rogers school, with the top prize being a short break at the China Fleet club, Saltash.

Tickets are available from Sharcare on The Parade, Liskeard, and the draw itself will take place at the NEC in Birmingham on May 11.

Rev Derek was soloist

A hymn evening with 'Churches Together' was held at Liskeard Methodist church with Rev Margaret Oxenham presiding. The soloist was Rev Derek Collings, and items were also provided by the choir and organist Graham Bray. The next fund-raising event will be on April 14 at 7.30pm in the hall when Eric Distin of Saltash will give a valuation of antiques. A charge will be made for each item looked at.
