Local plan adopted
After the years of planning and consultation the Caradon Local Plan has reached its destination and been formally adopted for the district. The official notice of the proposed adoption was made for public knowledge on June 18 but several amendments were found to be necessary including concerns expressed by St Martin's Parish Council and changes required by the Government Office for the South West.
The further consultations have been carried out and the rural car aprking concerns of St Martin's have been covered by an informal response. The Secretary of State for the DETR has conveyed his agreement of the modifications and thus the five year task has been completed and the Plan to cover all planning policies has become pure "gospel". Work on the next "plan" to 2005 has in fact commenced but in respect of the current document the proposals can be challenged in the High Court inside a time barrier of six weeks from the date of the public announcement of the adoption.
Despite this the final text, maps and comprehensive editing is under way for immediate issue once the formalities are concluded.
