LOTS of new children’s activities, exciting displays and around 80 new trade stalls will add to a great day out at the Liskeard Show tomorrow (Saturday).
The one-day agricultural show at Merrymeet offers a wealth of things to see and do, from livestock and horseriding competitions in the ring, stunt bike displays and fun terrier racing, to live music, foodie temptations and the showcasing of traditional skills.
Organisers say they are really delighted with the number of entries to classes so far, with horse and sheep on a par to previous years, while the numbers of cattle, donkeys and poultry are up.
‘We’re focusing a lot on the things to do for children this year and we want to highlight that once you’re in the gate, the activities and entertainment in the children’s marquee are free,’ said show secretary Beckie Breyley.
‘There’ll be remote control tractors, craft workshops, a pets corner and a children’s entertainer.’
This year, the Army, fire and rescue service and police will all be bringing vehicles to the showground for youngsters to look around, and there will be a miniature steam engine, apple pressing and chainsaw woodcarving among the many stalls and displays.
‘We’re looking forward to a good show,’ said Beckie, ‘and to welcoming everyone for a fun-filled, action-packed day out.’
